Seminar Series (Webinar) on “The Rule of Exhaustion of Local Remedies in the BITS of Bangladesh: A Critical Appraisal.”

The Research Committee of Department of Law and Human Rights, University of Asia Pacific organized a webinar titled “The Rule of Exhaustion of Local Remedies in the BITS of Bangladesh: A Critical Appraisal” on 29 April, 2021 through Google Meet. Ms. Azizun Nahar, Assistant professor, presented her working paper at that occasion. The seminar series is one the regular events of Department of L&HR, UAP. On that event, usually the faculties of L&HR, UAP present their current research paper in the presence of an expert and the audience to get the fruitful feedback.


Dr. Sharif Bhuiyan, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh presented as a resource person to that auspicious occasion. Additionally, all the faculties and interested students of the Department of L&HR were also presented on that occasion.

 

At first Ms. Azizun Nahar presented her paper elaborately. She discussed the main objectives of her paper. The paper was related to the Bilateral Investment Treaties. In her discussion she highlighted the different aspect of the investment laws. Additionally, she also recommends some provisions which will improve the existing situation of BITS in Bangladesh. Therefore, Dr. Sharif Bhuiyan delivered his positive thought on the paper; at the same time he suggested some points which are helpful for further improvement.


At the end, there was a question answering session, where audience directly put questions to the Ms. Azizun Nahar and the key discussant of the program Dr. Sharif Bhuiyan. They answered all the questions. Thereafter, Dr. Chowdhury Ishrak Ahmed Siddiky, Barrister-at-Law, Associate Professor and Head of Department, Department of Law & Human Rights thanked all the participants. Finally, the anchor of the program NaziaWahab,Assistant Professor thanked to all and concluded the program.
